Book Launch Party: "The Sugar Train" by Becky Faber

Eleanor Roosevelt said that “You must do the thing you think you cannot do.”  Often in life we are forced to make decisions and take actions that seem impossible.   We are also witnesses to the issues in others’ lives that may give us a broader view of how people manage their lives. The Sugar Train comes from a perspective of realism and allows us to develop empathy for the parts of the journey that are difficult.

Book Launch Party: "Wheel Man" by Marcia Calhoun Forecki

The day after his fifteenth birthday in 1955, Gordy McCann is shot while hunting with his father and Uncle Phil. Both men shoot at an attacking coyote. One shot kills the coyote, the other hits Gordy, leaving him paralyzed below the waist. Gordy faces a new world of physical limitation and emotional upheaval. As he learns the "choreography" of life in a wheelchair, his father descends into guilt, alcohol, and unemployment. Gordy's resilience is tested with friends, school, and first love, all while the unanswerable question lingers: whose bullet hit him?
