Want to rekindle your creative fire? Get your writerly magic going again? This generative creative writing workshop will help you do just that. We all need inspiration and sometimes a little nudge from time to time to keep us on the creative path. Through a series of writing exercises and reflective practices, we’ll explore what each of us can do to unleash our writing potential and do our best work. Whatever you write, plan to learn more ways to tap into your creative abilities, put a little more zing into every piece,  and go home each session with the beginnings of two or three new poems, essays, or stories.

Lucy Adkins is a writer of poetry, fiction, and non-fiction. Her poetry has been published in many journals and anthologies, and her chapbooks include One Life Shining: Addie Finch Farmwife from Pudding House Press, and Two-Toned Dress, which was the winner of the 2019 Blue Light Press Poetry Prize. Her full-length collection of poetry, A Crazy Little Thing, will be forthcoming in the fall of 2021. Lucy’s fiction has appeared in the South Dakota Review and Voices From the Plains anthology. She has also co-authored a book of non-fiction, Writing in Community: Say Goodbye to Writer’s Block and Transform Your Life which was awarded an “Ippy” in the Independent Publisher’s Book Awards. A follow up to Writing in Community, The Fire Inside: A Companion for the Creative Life will be published in summer, 2021. Lucy, along with Becky Breed, co-author of Writing in Community and The Fire Inside were winners of the Lincoln 2020 Mayors Arts Award for Excellence in the Literary Arts. Her MFA in Creative Writing is from the University of Nebraska at Omaha. She has been a writing group and workshop leader for many years.

Becky Breed, a veteran educator, poet, and essayist, attributes the support of her writing community for inspiring her to craft the most honest and authentic writing of her life. She has an Ed.D. in Education, and in addition to helping develop a series of creativity workshops for women on the prairie and leading workshops on writing, she has taught at the university level and served as principal at an alternative high school. She is the co-author of The Fire Inside: A Companion for the Creative Life and Writing in Community: Say Goodbye to Writer’s Block and Transform Your Life. Becky, along with co-writer Lucy Adkins, received the 2020 Lincoln, Nebraska, Mayor’s Artistic Award in Literature.
