The Larksong Playwriting Group will meet on the 2nd and 4th Wednesdays of the month from 6-8pm. Facilitators are Paula Ray and Bob Hall. Group members will have the opportunity to share their developing work for discussion, group feedback and possible readings. Writers at all levels of stage writing are encouraged to attend.
Bob Hall has been an actor, director, and playwright as well as a comic book artist and writer for Marvel and DC comics. He is a founder and, in the 1980s, Artistic Director of UNL’s Nebraska Repertory Theatre. He was the co-founder and Artistic Director of Flatwater Shakespeare. Hall has written a half dozen plays. His co-adaptation, The Passion of Dracula, ran Off-Broadway for two years, was produced on London’s West End and then on Showtime.
Paula Ray is a licensed psychologist and writer. Paula has an MFA in creative writing from UNO and was a recipient of a GRACA grant in support of the development of a play exploring the mass emigration of the Irish during the mid-nineteenth century. Four of her short plays examining human struggles in contemporary society have been staged in the annual First Flight Play Festivals in Lincoln. She created and produced, in collaboration with the Angels’ Theater Company, an ensemble theater piece titled Shadows and Light: Untold Stories, based on lived experiences of people at the intersection of trauma, mental health and the family court system.
