The Sugar Train is Becky Faber’s examination of the journey of life. Using her rural background as the point where her journey began, she takes a big-picture approach to a variety of topics that one encounters. The preface refers to a quote from Eleanor Roosevelt that “You must do the thing you think you cannot do.” Often in life we are forced to make decisions and take actions that seem impossible. We are also witnesses to the issues in others’ lives that may give us a broader view of how people manage their lives. The Sugar Train comes from a perspective of realism and allows us to develop empathy for the parts of the journey that are difficult.
Becky Faber is the author of One Small Photo (2017). For almost three decades she has served as an associate editor/manuscript reader for Plainsongs (Hastings).
Becky holds Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in English Education from the University of Nebraska at Kearney and a PhD in English from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln.
