Writing with Larksong: Bridging the Miles is a live online writing series for people who would like to write in the company of others and get to know writers from communities across Nebraska and beyond.
Each month, a different published writer will join us to read from their work and talk about some aspect of writing or the creative process. The guest writer will offer prompts and ideas, and we'll spend time writing together. You'll leave each session with new writing of your own. We'll also make time for conversation, including small breakout groups where participants can meet and get to know other writers.
These sessions are meant for anyone who enjoys writing or would like to do more of it. You don't need to have a project underway or think of yourself as a writer before you join us. We'll all be starting with the prompts offered that day. At the end of each session, we'll leave time for those who would like to share some of their new writing. There may not be time for everyone to read, and sharing is always optional.
You can participate from home or join other writers gathered at a participating library. Everyone takes part in the same live Zoom session, giving people who may live many miles apart a chance to write together and get to know one another over time.
When We Meet
The series begins Saturday, September 26, and meets on the fourth Saturday of each month from 11:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Central Time through March of 2027 (with the exception of December 2026).
The first session will be led by Nebraska author Karen Gettert Shoemaker, author of The Meaning of Names. Future guest writers will include bestselling novelist Tosca Lee, author of The Long March Home; poet Zedeka Poindexter, executive director of the Nebraska Writers Collective; and others.
